Yesterday I listened to day nineteen of Anthony Robbins Personal Power, a thirty day program to change your life.
Personal Power Day Nineteen
Tony talks about the fear of failure and success. He explains that most people have rules that make it extremely difficult to feel successful and easy to feel like a failure.
What must happen for me to feel like Im successful?
I must be taking action to move closer to my goals. I must be happy by focusing on the best parts of my life.
What must happen for me to feel like a failure?
I must have given up on my goals and stop taking action to move closer to them.
Anthony shares another visualization technique called the eraser technique where he has you visualize an event from the past that you feel like you failed in and imagine that event in all different ways backwards and forwards while changing the colors and distorting the images you have.
This is a hard exercise to explain with words but it is designed to change how you feel about that event. After doing the eraser technique you should laugh or smile when thinking about that past failure.
Daily Exercise Day Nineteen
Write down all the things you will lose if you don’t change this fear of success and all the things you will lose.
If I don’t change my beliefs about my fear of success and failure then I will lose:
- I will lose out on the opportunity to give my all because I will be stuck worrying about how things will turn out wrong
- I will eventually give up completely on my dreams because I’m afraid to fail
If I can change my beliefs about my fear of success then I will gain:
- I will stop worrying about failing and take action towards my goals
- I will learn and improve from my mistakes instead of feeling like a failure.
Then perform the eraser technique while thinking about your fears of failure.
